Why Does Paul Ryan Hate Our Military?

“We don’t think the generals are giving us their true advice.” – Rick Santorum   PAUL RYAN, I meant Paul Ryan!!

Can you imagine what would happen if Obama called the military a bunch of liars? It would be on every Fox channel 24/7 for weeks. It would be a national scandal! He would be impeached!

But it’s OK if you’re a Republican. It always is.

However, that doesn’t mean the military appreciates it:

There’s a difference between having someone say they don’t believe what you said versus … calling us, collectively, liars,” Gen. Dempsey told reporters aboard a U.S. military aircraft after a four day visit to Latin America. ”My response is: I stand by my testimony. This was very much a strategy-driven process to which we mapped the budget.”

Translation: “I’m sorry. Who do you think you are, you little pissant? Ever pick up a gun that wasn’t on a firing range, you chickenhawk scumbag? Any of your sons get sent off to war? No? Then shut the fuck up and go back to fighting the evils of pornography. If we tell you we don’t need the money, WE DON’T NEED THE MONEY. Call me a liar again and I’ll have twenty marines give you a wedgie you’ll never forget.”

CORRECTION: Apparently Republicans are all starting to blend together into one huge pulsating mass of garbage in my brain. I mistakenly attributed Paul Ryan’s insulting statement to Rick Santorum. In my defense, they do all look alike: greedy, soulless and very, very white.

  3. Even a broken clock can be right twice a day. The military is being run in a way to make war contractors richer. The war in Afghanistan is not winnable.

  4. You do know that the quote you attribute to Rick Santorum was actually from Rex Ryan, right?

The JCS are politicians first and generals second. What politicians view as “true” is often affected by traditions, policy factors, politics, and a desire not to “cross” the President. While he IS the Commander in Chief, he is also a civilian who need straight from the shoulder advice about purely military matters. Unfortunately, no President will keep a JCS that tells him military thruths that impede his political vision. They’ll either be replaced or ignored. So the way to maintain any influence (and the nice house at Ft. Myer) is to “shade” your opinions to meet the Presidents needs.

“Many would call the “shading” instead of unalloyed truth a disservive to men on the battlefield and, in colloguial terms, . . . a lie.

BTW, the Honor Code is for boys, not men with careers to promote.

  6. I can’t tell anymore when its a comedian or an actual quote, and I usually think it’s santorum as well
