Sleepy Time Thought: 4/6/2012
I spent an hour or so last night and some more time this morning arguing with a Fox News conservative and she truly illustrated how broken these people are. After making several claims about things Obama said and that “death panels” are actually in the ACA, I proceeded to demolish her flimsy arguments one after another. I presented her with direct contradictions to her statements from a variety of sources, some liberal, some neutral, one from the government’s own website and even one conservative source. She dismissed them out of hand. Why? Because the media and government can’t be trusted.
Do you see the circular logic? I know what I know because I know it. It is impenetrable to logic, reason or any proof. This, of course, begs the question? If all media and the government cannot be trusted to provide any truth, how does she get her information? How does she “know” that “death panels” exist? Did she hear it from a friend? Where did that friend hear it and how can they be considered a credible source of information? Did she hear on the radio or Fox News? I thought all media lied. How can she only trust one news source and that only when they do not contradict her “beliefs?”
When I demanded she find the exact wording in the ACA that creates “death panels” she tried to evade the question until she was cornered and agreed to look through the bill. She won’t and we both know it. I told her that it should be easy to find. If it was really in there then every conservative website, every conservative blog, Fox News and every right wing newspaper would have it listed. After all, they have a vested interest in “exposing” the truth, don’t they?
She didn’t have an answer for that. They never do.
I think maybe I’ll screen cap the whole sorry conversation and post it so you can see exactly how a conservative argues. It was quite textbook.
Sleep tight you filthy liberal scum!
